Through a variety of activities (written
and laboratory work, lectures and discussions, group research, and computer simulations),
students will gain an understanding of the major biological concepts and how
they relate to health, human systems, and health care professions. The objectives of this course
focus on the student gaining an understanding of scientific and engineering
practices, crosscutting concepts, technical and academic terminology, and
methods of presenting scientific information. Students will be able to
construct, analyze, and evaluate scientific explanations and carry out guided
and independent investigations with precision and safety.
This is a one-year comprehensive Biology course that
meets all California State Standards and is an approved “D” Biology course as
required by the UC and CSU.
