Course Description
United States History is a two-semester course with a focus on the major turning points in American history. The objectives of this course are for students to develop an understanding of the social,cultural, political, and environmental impacts of historical events and how they influenced America’s place in the global society. Moreover, students will develop and demonstrate their ability to think critically through a historical lens, engage in research and solve problems using history as a resource.

This course is aligned with the Common Core State Standards for History/Social Science.
Units of study:
We will explore a number of topics, including Early America, Race and Expansion, Immigration and American Identity, Industrialization, American Imperialism and WWI, and Women’s Suffrage and the 1920s.
