Mr. Muys teaches IB English to HCA juniors and seniors. He brings over twenty years of teaching experience to the Academy, and is a founding member of our program. Mr. Muys began his teaching career at Silver Creek High School in San Jose, CA. Soon after, he moved to Chicago, where he taught for six years at Steinmetz High School, where he was a founding member of the schoolś IB program and policy debate team. In 2002, after spending a year in Thessaloniki, Greece, Mr. Muys came to Sequoia to teach E.L.L. classes, I.B. English and I.B. Theory of Knowledge. Now in his fourteenth year at Sequoia, he continues to teach I.B. English to juniors and seniors in the Health Careers Academy, for which he was founding Lead Teacher from 2010 to 2013. Mr. Muys received his National Board Certification for the Teaching Profession in 2002. Mr. Muys lives with his wife and two daughters in Palo Alto, and spends his free time reading, and cycling.
