Sequoia ADVANCED Dance Audition Instructions:
2024-25 Sequoia High School ADVANCED Dance Class Auditions
When: Friday, March 1st, check in begins at 3:15 (arrive as soon as school is over)
Where: Check in at the Gym 3 hallway below the dance studio. Auditions will be held in the dance studio.
Please learn the three Advanced Auditions dance combinations linked above.
The audition will consist of Across the Floor technique (pirouettes, kicks and leaps - see sample videos in the playlist), and a demonstration of the three short dance combinations.
An optional workshop will be held on Weds 2/28/24 from 4-5:30pm, in the dance studio.
If not auditioning in-person, video submissions must be received by Friday, March 1st at midnight.
Video requirements and submission:
Technique should be filmed in three separate videos of both the right and left sides. Please record your strongest side first (example: one video for pirouettes, right side and then left side). It is important that you stand far enough away from the camera so that I can see the top of your head, down to your toes. You might need to record outside.
At the beginning of the dance, please introduce yourself with your full name, grade and middle school (if applicable).
Label all four videos with your first and last name and the demonstration (ex: Jane Smith dances, Jane Smith kicks, Jane Smith leaps, etc.).
Please upload your videos to a Google folder (or an equivalent), labeled with your name and Advanced Auditions (ex: Jane Smith Advanced Auditions), and share with Taylor White, twhite@seq.org.
Please feel free to send any questions to Taylor White twhite@seq.org
Sequoia INTERMEDIATE Dance Audition Instructions:
All of the intermediate dance audition information may also be found using the link or QR Code above.
There is no set due date for Intermediate Dance auditions. However, once the class is full, I may not be able to accommodate any additional dancers. Therefore, I suggest you get your videos in as soon as possible. (Window is now open). I can accept videos up until the start of the school year. Please do not get discouraged if you did not receive this info until late in the year.
Dance: Please learn the BCG street jazz Intermediate Audition Dance linked above
